Theme

The theme of the competition is based on the world's water resources problem; specifically in relation to any of the Foundation's areas of action: infrastructure, education and health.

You can derive your inspiration from any area addressed by We Are Water: the problem of sanitation and access to water (which is related directly to hygiene), contamination, disease, food and education.

If you're still not sure about the focus, take a look at our projects.

Get started on your short film!

Prizes

A total of four prizes are awarded for the different categories.

Rules and conditions

There are three categories you can enter:

Micro-documentary

Demonstrate your talent for synthesis and your narrative skill in telling a story, whether real or fictional.

Animation

These days, animation techniques cross over into illustration, from basic stop-motion to cutting-edge 3D. There are more options available than ever before, and they're all valid.

Instagram

One of the most modern programs is also the freest; the only requirement is that the story be recorded using this app.

Entries must meet the following requirements, among others:

  • Address the theme related to access to water and sanitation and its relation with the hygiene, pollution, agriculture, disease, food, education, etc.
  • Last between one and three minutes.
  • Audio or texts that form part of the works must be in English or subtitled in English.
  • They must start and end with the official billboards:
    • Micro-documentary and Animation: beginning and ending
    • Instagram: beginning and ending
  • Must be submitted between 27 September 2013 and 31 March 2014.
