Yemen
Micro-fiction
Between the school bell and the call to fetch water, a young Yemeni girl faces a daily struggle that no child should have to endure. Inspired by the lived experiences of many girls in water-scarce communities, where the responsibility of collecting water often falls on girls, the film explores how this daily journey becomes a barrier to their right to education. It is inspired by the reality of villages west of Taiz, where the drying up of numerous wells, compounded by the prolonged impacts of war, has deepened the water crisis and its consequences for children's lives and education.
