This film is about a poor young boy who needs to go in search of water for his family. Barefooted, he treks miles through bushes to fetch water from a polluted water source if the only tap in the village is not functioning. A once beautiful and refreshing river, has unfortunately been polluted with rubbish and debris from illegal miners (galamsey) as they mine for gold. These illegal miners often use metals like mercury, arsenic and lead in their crude mining projects; however, their actions cause negative ripple effects that affect the communities they mine in. Faced with only one available water source, families like that of this boy, continue to drink from mercury and arsenic laden water and acquire numerous diseases. His father is sick; his mother fears for his life; his feet are sore and calloused from walking. Years have passed, but still access to clean water is not enough.
