In Ayuk,we see two orphans who lost their mother of cholera, struggling to survive the water crisis they face.Ayuk the junior brother, uses the water his sister just brought to wash the plate he is about to eat in. When his sister sees him,she begins to yell and hit him because according to her Ayuk is waisting the water she spent all her day carrying. Ayuk tries to tell her about what his teacher taught him on water and sanitation, but she suppresses him and reminds him of their water crisis which does not permit them the luxury on sanitation.
The little water they can afford for ,serves just the purpose of cooking and drinking for survival. Ayuk ends up having his lunch in the same dirty plates as usual, and two weeks later,he suffers of cholera and dies too.
